Buy Gift Card!

I have an aeropostale online gift card, but I want to use it at a store. If I print out the online gift card and take it to the store, can I use it?
I did this with a JC Penny online gift-card, and after some trouble, they were able to use the online gift-card in the store.

Online Gift Certificates are redeemable online only at www.aeropostale.com or www.ps4u.com and cannot be used at an Aéropostale retail store. This is from their website.

Koko looks through a new picture book sent to her as a gift from a Gorilla Foundation volunteer, Kimberly Sullivan. Koko signs about certain pictures that she likes: for example flowers when she sees some pretty flowers, red (and lipstick drink) when she sees a picture of red cats (she used to have a cat named lips lipstick). She also opens the gift card and signs cat, which is on the cover of the card. When Penny asks her to select her favorite picture in the book, she of course selects the red cats. But when Penny asks her to select a picture for Ron (co-founder Dr. Ron Cohn, her usual photographer and father figure) she selects the picture of an alligator featuring a large open mouth full of sharp teeth (alligator toys are Kokos favorites for scaring people, and herself). When Ron comes over to see Kokos pick, Koko seems a bit embarrassed and puts her hands over her face to sign unattention.

Lesson: Gorillas can be extremely sensitive.

My cat has been through a lot this year–two different surgeries, asthma flare-ups, etc. I was thinking of getting the vets and vet techs who cared for him a gift–maybe buying a few pounds of bakery cookies and writing a nice card. On the other hand, I feel they’ve been well-compensated for their work. (Well the vets at least; the vet techs make pennies.) What would you do?

I think everything is optional. I used to work at a vet office (I was a kennel tech tho, not involved in the medicine), and we’d get tons of cookies and candies and cards at the holidays – many from people who’s animals had been in and out of the place . Tho i didn’t have hands on experience with the animal’s medical care, I still knew the animals, and what they/the owners were going through, and I always felt bad for the owners for having gone to the trouble of doing something for the staff, what with all they’d gone through. I agree that vets do get very well compensated, and techs not so much – however, the techs are doing this job because they absolutley love animals, and thier just happy if they know they’re doing something to help. So, as long as they know they’ve done something to help your animal, and you appreciate that, that in itself is like a gift. If you do want to do something however, a card to all involved (vets, techs, office people, etc), is a grand idea, because it gives some of the people in lower positions a boost in feeling like they play an important role in your pet’s health. (and no one complains about baked goods! …until the 3rd week in january, when we’re making our way through the last few tins, and we’ve gained 10 lbs )

Well, my best friend, let’s change the name… Penny is such a great friend! We haven’t been friends for a long time, maybe 3 years.. but we are absolute best friends! We do everything together! And can’t seem to come up with a Christmas gift. I do not want to get her pajamas, movies, gift cards, a purse, clothes, slippers, books.. yeah that’s about it. I do want to get something designer maybe? The only thing is I don’t want to spend a ton of money. I have a ton of gifts to buy this year. Maybe around $40ish? But I can’t come up with a cute idea! She’s 16 btw. So no Claires or Limited Too stuff. It also needs to be a really nice gift too.

And I have another friend… Chuck. He’s 16 and I can’t find a gift for him either. I don’t like him in anyway other than a friend. So I want to get something just for a friend. I don’t really know his music taste. Clothes and cologne, no. Gift cards, done it before. ???

The best gift that is often given is something that cannot be bought. My best friend drinks hot tea in the morning, so my gift to her is a basket with her favorite teas, a mug, homemade muffins, and a letter telling her how important she is to me. As long as the gift fits the person, and shows how you really feel, it will be perfect.

I have news for you and the buyer — there’s absolutely no point putting any content on the device or leaving anything on it. When she connects it, she’ll have to register it to HER account which will wipe it out anyway.

Here’s a suggestion, explain that to her. Wipe it out, because you don’t want your passwords, settings or content left on it. When you get the money from her, GIFT her the content from iTunes so it’s in HER library, registered to HER device.

For my birthday he thoughtfully gave me a $40 giftcard to JC Penny’s. Well, I was delighted, I needed a few basics! Paying for my Graduate program has kept me low on cash and I used the card at JCPenny’s to pick up socks, underwear, a few basic shirts and a belt. I was so thankful.
A few weeks after, my boyfriend started asking what I had gotten with his giftcard. (I had already told him, I think he must have forgotten). Well I showed him and thanked him again. However he became so angry! He claimed I wasted the money on crap, and didn’t spend it on anything he wanted. He said if I continued to waste his money then no more bday presents. He was expecting me to buy a flashy outfit he could take me out in front of his friends in because he think’s my current clothes are "frumpy"
How to apologize and smooth things over?

First, you have no reason to apologize.
Second, a gift card is like cash – to spend how you please.
Third, if he had something specific in mind, then he should have taken the time to shop for it, instead of going the easy way and getting the gift card.
Fourth, are you supposed to be a mind reader? Were there conditions attached to his gift? If so, why would you want it?
Fifth, apparently your clothes were good enough before, since he’s your boyfriend, so what’s wrong with them now?
Sixth, if he’s this way over a gift card, how will he be about real issues?

You might want to reconsider his "boyfriend" status. You didn’t waste the money, you used it as you saw fit, and that should be enough for him to be pleased. A gift is designed to please the person receiving the gift, and this one did. He ruined that by acting like he’s 4.

Don’t apologize, your boyfriend should love you for who you are, not what you wear. If he gave you the card as a gift, then it should be used to buy what YOU want not what HE wants.
