I walk into a store (tell me step by step now to use a credit card to buy something)
(example with cash: Give person the exact amount you owe, or over that amount, they will take the cash and give you change if it was over the amount you owe, take the change, DONE)

When using a Credit Card do you just need to swipe? Or also enter a pin code? (In Canada)
When using a Pre-Paid Credit Card (Visa Gift card) do you just need to swipe? Or also enter a pin code? (In Canada)

My situation:
Im 16, Im booking a room in a hotel online and paying with credit card (no problem)
Once I show up at the hotel they will let me go to my room without paying (I paid online already) but they will check the same card I used to book and pay for the room online to make sure it’s real, How will that work? Do i read them my pre-paid credit card number and ask, "is that what you have on your screen for the person who booked the room?" do I swipe it and then they say everything is fine? Or do I have to…… GULP!…… swipe my card and then they ask me to enter my pin! (Faint!) (When I got my visa gift card from the bank I did not get a pin, or password, I was just given a card, when I went shopping online all I needed was my number, name, and 3 digit code on my card, no pin! is that 3 digit number my pin? Do I even need a pin to use a credit card , or do I just swipe?)

I’m 16, and yes I can buy a pre paid credit card from my bank, I can also book a room online and show up at the hotel and check in alone (no parents needed, I even called the hotel and they said I can)

Yeah, but do I need a pin? and if I do how do I get one with my pre paid visa card??

if its prepaid then yes you do need a pin..i have one of those buut mine dosent need a pin.its weird?
depends if yours is matercard. i know you said visa but still..
usually credit cards dont need pin numbers so dont worry.
if they ask you for you card NUMBER..thats the number that comes in the front (or in the back) of the card..

we are trying to get our in-laws a credit towards a flight to Hawaii or another destination they want to go, they have the hotel booked through their company at a great discount so they don’t need a hotel, we want to give them a credit in the form of a gift card or voucher so they can use it towards airline tickets, what is the best way to do this? I looked at orbitz and they dont seem to have gift cards, any other ideas? thanks.

I buy my parents American Airlines gift cards for Christmas every year. It works out great. I’m sure Delta and the others offer them too.

I need to reserve hotel rooms for a few nights, but I don’t have a credit card (I’m 21). Would I be able to have a friend reserve the rooms and then use a Visa gift card or give them cash as collateral once I check in? Do I absolutely have to have a card in the same name as the person who made the reservations?

This is a good question! You will be able to make a reservation under another persons name and give the Hotel a cc number to reserve it. When you get to the hotel desk, all you have to do is give them your cc or another way of paying. You don’t have to pay right then and there, some hotels will allow you to pay after. Remember there might be additional fees that go along with that.

This company I work for sometimes is looking for models. The hold these events at hotels and utilize their conference rooms for the event. The usually advertise months in advance and have a great turn out.

I was contacted by Chef World Inc. and described a prize package I’ve won through an online form. Has anyone else heard of this or received the prize? It is short notice and about a 2 hour drive to claim the prize and I don’t want to waste my time. Apparently, they will demonstrate their products and give a questionairre for their advertising purposes while I claim my prize of a grocery gift card, 3 days/2 nights hotel stay. It would be great if anyone else has been a "winner" and could tell me their experience with this.
