yeah this is really difficult, my friend is turning 13 in a few days and I wanna get him something cool, but the problem is his family doesn’t like electronic, violent, loud, etc. His family is what you would call naturalist, aka hippies
yeah he does not like gift cards or just cash or books (well he loves books but that would be a gay present) or movies….
and he is not into sports…. well he and his whole family don’t like american things (since they are european) so you could see how this is a big problam. When ever I ask him what he wants he just says "surprise me" or "I don’t know" yeah we are like best buds so yeah

Well European or not, everyone has to eat, this is a quick fix solution. Take your friend out to a nice dinner, place of his choice & then to a movie, let him pick the movie. Do not ask him if he wants to go out to dinner or if he wants to go to a movie. Just be polite, but firm that you are taking him out for his birthday & that he gets to pick what he wants to eat & what movie he wants to see. You can also (as other have suggested, talk to his parents & find out what kind of games he likes) then when you are done with dinner & the movies, give him a nice game as an extra plus gift for his birthday. Then you & he will have something to look forward to doing together the next time you do get together. This is the best solution that I can think of for you given the circumstances. Good luck & pat yourself on the back for being such a good friend. Way to go!

My mom is excruciatingly hard to by gifts for and I need some ideas. She doesn’t wear jewelry or perfume. She isn’t a huge fan of sweets or treats (she does like sunflower seeds and popcorn, but that doesn’t seem appropriate). She doesn’t like spas or massages (she’s super self conscious) nor does she like to receive or buy clothes. She doesn’t want home stuff, understandably.
She does like movies, but we already got her a netflicks subscription since she doesn’t like keeping movies around, so she watches them once and gives them away if we get her movies. She has watches she never wears so that’s out too.
I’m thinking of getting a group picture made of my brothers and I since the relationships are strained and it’s impossible to get a certain 2 of us in the same room, but that seems dumb. She likes sudoku, but those electronic ones are like 10 dollars, so it’s too cheap. If we get her gift cards, she buys stuff she thinks other people like.
It’s driving me crazy since I already bought all my gifts (even my dog’s!) except hers since she won’t even give me a hint. She’s always been like this, but I’m not at home anymore to draw information from her. I know she likes gifts "from the heart" but I have nothing to go on. She’s getting older and I know she misses her family and when we were little, but there’s no gift I can get for that since pictures of them are hard to come by and we live over 500 miles away, so I can’t go take pictures of them.
Please please please, any ideas for my hard to shop for mom?

Or if you could get a plain acid free paper and send it to all the kids to write something special on it for her and frame it. I need to get this guy like something very special for Christmas. We’re not going out or anything, but I think I like him and he might feel something special for me. So I want to get him something special and not too suggestive, just like something heartwarming and other people won’t get him.
